Welcome to the July 2021 edition of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India Newsletter. This month we present inspiring quotes of Paramahansa Yogananda on service to God and our fellow beings.

Life should be chiefly service. Without that ideal, the intelligence that God has given you is not reaching out toward its goal. When in service you forget the little self, you will feel the big Self of Spirit.

Rather than be always striving for personal happiness, try to make others happy. In being of spiritual, mental, and material service to others, you will find your own needs fulfilled. As you forget self in service to others, you will find that, without seeking it, your own cup of happiness will be full.

Your ever-readiness to help others without distinction of sex, creed, or caste will make your heart big enough to receive all humanity therein. Once the love of all human beings and living things enters your heart, it will be the one heart of God....Recognizing the God-love burning in all heart lamps, you will see and feel only God-love flowing through everything and everybody. Every time you meet a receptive human being, demonstrate by actions, and then make him feel, that you are interested in his physical, mental, and spiritual welfare as much as you are interested in your own all-round welfare. Never neglect to do what you can for yourself in the form of others.

Cease to think that you are working for yourself. Find God by striving to make your daily activities less identified with “me” and “mine” and more identified with God. Each one of you can feel that you are performing all your activities in the consciousness of God; for example, by eating not for yourself, but to look after the body temple in which God resides; by doing your work not with the idea of personal gain, but as a service to God, and with the thought of God.

If you work for your Divine Beloved, your life will be filled with love and strength. Inwardly dedicate to God all of the day's activities; and, when work is done, commune with Him in the temple of silence.

“In the Embrace of the Divine Mother”

A video excerpt from Swami Chidananda Giri

During his visit to India in 2017, Swami Chidanandaji gave a deeply inspiring talk on God as the Divine Mother at the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India ashram in Dakshineswar, West Bengal. This excerpt features some of Swami Chidanandaji’s opening remarks and his leading the audience in practice of a visualization of the loving presence of Divine Mother to help “banish the darkness of delusion” from their lives and the world at large.
