One who is united to cosmic wisdom goes beyond the effects of both virtue and vice, even here in this life. Therefore, devote thyself to yoga, divine union. Yoga is the art of proper action.
— Bhagavan Krishna, God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita
On the occasion of Gita Jayanti (falling on December 1 this year), we welcome you to attend a discourse in Hindi by YSS sannyasi Swami Ishwarananda Giri titled “निष्काम कर्म: आत्मा की मुक्ति का मार्ग,” to gain insights into the profound message of this sacred scripture on right activity that can lead to liberation as explained by Paramahansa Yogananda through his Gita commentary titled God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita.
In this talk, Swami Ishwarananda will delve into verses 47 to 51 of Chapter II of the Gita, drawing on Yoganandaji’s explanation that one can engage wholeheartedly in life’s duties while remaining free from attachment to outcomes by keeping our minds on God through yoga: “To carry on life’s activities with God-consciousness is called the supreme art of proper action because it totally frees the soul from the earthly bondage of karmic effects of actions and ensures permanent freedom in Spirit.”
Please note: This talk will be live-streamed from YSS Ranchi Ashram on Sunday, November 30, and will remain available for viewing till Tuesday, December 2, 10 p.m. (IST).

About the Scriptural Commentary
Paramahansa Yoganandaji, the author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi, interprets the Bhagavad Gita with divine insight. In his interpretation, exploring its psychological, spiritual, and metaphysical depths — from the subtle causes of everyday thoughts and actions to the grand design of the cosmic order — Yoganandaji presents a sweeping chronicle of the soul’s journey to enlightenment.
Clearly outlining the Gita’s balanced path of meditation and right activity, Paramahansaji shows how we can create for ourselves a life of spiritual integrity, serenity, simplicity, and joy. Through our awakened intuition, we come to know the right course to take at every crossroad on the path of life, to determine what shortcomings are holding us back and what positive qualities are moving us forward, and to recognize and avoid pitfalls along the way.
