Each year Yogoda Satsanga Society of India monks visit cities around the country to help fulfil the ever-growing demand for Paramahansa Yogananda’s soul-liberating teachings. They conduct weekend retreats and inspirational programmes that include classes on Paramahansaji’s “How-to-Live” teachings, review of the YSS yoga techniques, group meditations, chanting, audio-visual presentations, and Kriya Yoga initiation ceremonies.
Lecture tours offer an introduction for newcomers to the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, and in-depth guidance in the YSS meditation techniques for Lessons students. Member programmes and regional retreats include classes on the YSS meditation techniques and provide opportunities for group meditation and satsanga. Programmes also cover many other important aspects of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings, such as:
- The importance of meditation in daily life
- How to live a more harmonious life
- Learning to balance inner needs with outer demands
Inspiring us to build an inner temple of silence, our beloved Gurudeva said: “What joy awaits discovery in the silence behind the portals of your mind no human tongue can tell. But you must meditate and create that environment. Those who deeply meditate feel a wonderful inner quiet.” These functions provide a wonderful opportunity for the sincere sadhaks to withdraw their attention from the ceaseless activity of everyday living, and focus it on the Inner Silence, and thereby drink the nectar of God’s peace and bliss.
