This is the first talk in a two-part series titled “Understanding the Nature of the Soul” by Swami Smaranananda Giri, a senior YSS sannyasi.
Drawing from Paramahansaji’s commentary, Swami Smaranananda explains the eternal nature of the soul, which remains untouched by the transitions of birth, life, and death. While the body changes, the soul moves from one form to another, and the wise do not grieve over these changes. He emphasizes Bhagawan Krishna’s advice that one should remain unaffected by sensory experiences such as pleasure and pain, understanding that they are temporary responses of the senses to the world. Equanimity in the face of life’s dualities is vital, and those who cultivate this inner calmness through meditation are prepared to achieve immortality.
