YSS Centennial Celebrations – MUMBAI

The centennial celebrations of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) began in Mumbai on Thursday, January 5, 2017, the birth anniversary of  Paramahansa Yogananda.

Swami Tejomayananda Saraswati, Worldwide Head of Chinmaya Mission, and Swami Shraddhananda Giri, Member Board of Directors, YSS, presided over the ceremony.

Swami Shraddhananda heartily welcomed Swami Tejomayananda and honoured him with a shawl, books of Paramahansaji and a picture of Yogeshwar Krishna.

Shraddhanandaji spoke of Paramahansaji’s childhood and his blossoming into a globally renowned spiritual leader. Swamiji recounted details from the life of the great guru as enumerated in the Autobiography of a Yogi. He also spoke of how YSS had grown to become a large organisation from humble beginnings in 1917. Swamiji read out the inspiring message of Sri Mrinalini Mataji Sanghamata & President of YSS/SRF on this joyous occasion.

Speaking on occasion, Swami Shraddhananda lauded the contribution of Swami Tejomayanandaji to the welfare of humanity over the decades.

Swami Tejomayanandaji spoke about Meditation and the benefits of meditation. He said that apart from the higher goal of finding one’s true self, meditation also helps in combating the uncertainties of life and providing abiding peace to the devotee. He praised the role of Paramahansa Yogananda in spreading the light of yoga-meditation throughout the world. He recalled that he had read the Autobiography in 1976. He had also met Sri Daya Mataji at the Mother Centre in Los Angeles with his own Guru Swami Sri Chinmayanandaji, and he had also visited the YSS Ashram at Ranchi on a few occasions.
