A New Teen Programme for a New School Year: Online Teen Recharging Station (OTRS)

October 7, 2026

Teenagers from across India gathered online to meditate and practise Yoganandaji’s How-to-Live teachings.

Online Teen Recharge Station (OTRS) — Monsoon Edition was conducted by YSS Youth Services over five weekends between July 18 and August 16, 2026.

Over 140 teenagers from across India participated in ten weekend sessions held on Saturdays and Sundays. These sessions helped them start the new academic year on a spiritual high note. Conducted by experienced facilitators, each session consisted of fifteen minutes of interactive teaching on a key topic and a thirty-minute guided meditation and affirmation practice.

How-to-Live Classes

I liked the fun activities, the story-based way of imparting messages, and the useful techniques that can be used in everyday life.

— S.A., Teen, 15 years, Karnataka

Teens connecting through stories

Teenagers navigating examination and peer pressure, and the many demands of extracurricular activities, welcomed the How-to-Live Classes, which helped them to cultivate their spirituality even while managing intensive routines.

Topics included:

  • Concentration
  • Will Power
  • Friendship
  • Fearlessness
  • Faith, and
  • Devotion

More than 40 trained facilitators and ushers served in the programme. Stories from Autobiography of a Yogi and Mejda were particularly appreciated and helped bring the spiritual principles closer to the teenagers’ everyday experiences.

Dynamic Interactions

The online format enabled dynamic and interactive learning for teenagers. Group discussions, polls, and chat messages were popular among the participants.

A Special YSS Monastic Session

Another highlight of OTRS was a special session with Swami Shankarananda, during which he shared the story of the Buddha through visual storytelling. The teens learned how four simple sights (old age, sickness, death, and a serene ascetic) set the young prince on his quest for truth and how, seated beneath the Bodhi tree, he vowed not to rise from meditation until he attained enlightenment, a reminder that steady determination, even in small daily efforts, is what carries a seeker forward.

Teenagers reflect on the role of karma and the value of bringing meditation into daily life.

Testimonials

Parents and teens expressed a strong interest in, and requested the continuation of, the online sessions. Going forward, OTRS will be a biannual offering of Youth Services, with Spring and Monsoon sessions.
