With the inauguration of the New Press Building on August 20, 2018 by Swami Vishwanandaji, the first phase of installing a New Printing press at the YSS Ranchi Ashram reached a successful conclusion. It took more than 4 months of continuous renovation work to make the old Lessons Department building fit enough to house the new printing and binding equipment. As part of the renovation, the whole roof was changed and the floor of the entire building was raised by about 2 feet. The entire electrical wiring of the building was redone, and new electrical fittings and a new fire safety system were installed.
Meanwhile, orders had been placed for the new equipment and other raw materials such as ink, paper and other items required for printing the new edition of the YSS Lessons. These items started arriving during the months of September and October, and as each item was installed in its designated place, the empty halls of the building gradually metamorphosed into a modern printing facility consisting of a modern and sophisticated digital offset printing machine, an automated binding machine, a paper cutting machine, paper drilling machine, a shrink-wrap tunnel, a paper shredding machine, and pallet trucks. Inspite of a few initial setbacks during transport and installation of the machines, all the equipment was in place and fully functional by the middle of December 2018.
A very elaborate and sophisticated electrical supply system was also installed to ensure that the expensive printing press receives a safe and secure power supply at all times. Special care was taken to protect the entire building from lightning strikes, a common occurrence in Ranchi during the monsoon season. New staff have been employed for operating these machines, and they received extensive training from the engineers who came to install the new press.
On December 28, 2018, Swami Suddhanandaji, after invoking the blessings of God and Guru, formally inaugurated the Printing Machine by switching the ON button and commencing the printing operation of the digital offset press. The printing press and the binding machines are now fully operational and ready to serve the sacred cause of Gurudeva. We are happy to inform you that we will soon be commencing the printing of the new edition of the YSS Lessons in this printing press.
It was the express wish of our beloved Gurudeva, that the invaluable Kriya Yoga teachings that he gave to the world in the form of the YSS/SRF Lessons be printed within the sacred precincts of his ashrams.
