About the Event

The anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda’s mahasamadhi — a great yogi’s final conscious exit from the body in a state of oneness with Spirit — is on March 7. The anniversary of the mahasamadhi of his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, is on March 9. Yogoda Satsanga Society of India sannyasis will conduct the following special online events to honour Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Sri Yukteswar:

On March 7, 1952, Paramahansa Yoganandaji entered mahasamadhi. This day is commemorated with special meditation programmes across India. We welcome you to join a special online meditation led by a YSS sannyasi. The programme will include chanting, inspirational readings, and meditation.

Commemorative Six-Hour Meditation

To commemorate the special days of the mahasamadhi of Paramahansa Yogananda, our beloved Gurudeva, and Swami Sri Yukteswar, paramguru of devotees of the YSS/SRF path, we invite you to join us for a six-hour online meditation that will be conducted by YSS sannyasis on Sunday, March 8.

The programme will commence with the Energization Exercises, followed by prayer, inspirational reading, and periods of chanting and meditation. It will conclude with Paramahansa Yogananda’s healing technique and a closing prayer.

The detailed schedule is as follows:

  • Energization Exercises – 9:40 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (IST)
  • First Session – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (IST)
  • Break – 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (IST)
  • Second Session – 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (IST)

Mahasamadhi Commemorative Meditation

Revered as a Jnanavatar or an “incarnation of wisdom,” Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri is the Guru of Paramhansa Yogananda and a disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya. On March 9, 1936, Swami Sri Yukteswar entered mahasamadhi — a day that Yogoda Satsanga Society of India commemorates with special meditations.

We invite you to join us in a special online commemorative meditation to honour Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, which will be led by a YSS sannyasi on Monday, March 9, and will include chanting, inspirational reading, and meditation.
