How to Reach YSS Dakshineswar Ashram​

By Air

The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport at Dum Dum connects Kolkata to several cities in India and abroad.

  • While booking a taxi from the airport, please ask for “Yogoda Math (YSS Ashram)” in Ariadaha, near Sharada Math and Adyapith in Dakshineswar.
  • Approximate Distance – 11 km

By Rail

The major railway stations nearby are – Howrah, Sealdah, Santragachi, Shalimar, and Kolkata.

  • Howrah is well linked to other major cities, such as Delhi (~1450 km), Mumbai (~1970 km), and Chennai (~1660 km).
  • Sealdah is the terminus for trains from the North, the Northeast, and some suburban local trains.
  • Trains of South, South-Eastern, South Central, South Western, South-East central zones run from Santragachi, Shalimar, and Kolkata stations.
From Howrah Railway Station

By Taxi:

  • Book a prepaid taxi and ask for “Yogoda Math (YSS Ashram)” in Ariadaha, near Sharada Math and Adyapith in Dakshineswar.
  • YSS ashram is about 200 metres from Sharada Math and about 1 km from Adhyapith.
  • Approximate Distance:
    • via Shyam Bazar – 10 km
    • via GT Road  – 12 km


By Ferry:

  • Take a local train from Howrah railway station for Uttarpara.
  • Get down at Uttarpara railway station and head for the Ferry Service point, which is approximately 1.5 km from the station.
  • Cross the Ganges by ferry and get off at the Ariadaha Ferry drop point.
  • Approximate distance from the drop point – 500 metres


By Metro:

  • The Howrah Metro Station is located near the main entrance of the Howrah Railway Station.
  • Take a Green Line metro bound for Esplanade.
  • From Esplanade, which is a major interchange, take a Blue Line metro headed for Dakshineswar.
  • Approximate Distance from Dakshineswar Metro Station – 2 km
  • Cycle rickshaws and three-wheelers are easily available.
From Sealdah Railway Station
  • Approximate Distance – 13 km
  • Take a local train to Dakshineswar railway station.
  • YSS ashram is about 2 km from the station.
  • Cycle rickshaws, taxis, cabs and three-wheelers are easily available from Dakshineswar railway station.
From Santragachi / Shalimar Railway Stations
  • Approximate Distance:
    • From Santragachi Railway Station – 21.4 km
    • From Shalimar Railway Station – 27 km
  • Take a local train to Howrah railway station. Please see the above section for the various ways to reach YSS ashram from Howrah railway station.
  • Alternatively, taxis can be hired directly from these railway stations.
From Kolkata Railway Station
  • Approximate Distance – 10 km
  • Buses are available up to Dakshineswar railway station
  • You can also come by metro from Shyambazar or Belgachia metro stations up to Dakshineswar railway station.
  • Yogoda Math (YSS ashram) is about 2 km from Dakshineswar railway station.
  • Cycle rickshaws, taxis, cabs and three-wheelers are easily available from Dakshineswar railway station.

By Metro (Intercity)

For commuting intercity and within Kolkata, a metro network is also available. The nearest metro station to the ashram is Dakshineswar metro station, on the Blue Line of the Kolkata metro network.
