This talk by Swami Chidananda Giri, president and spiritual head of Yogoda Satsanga Society/Self-Realization Fellowship, was given in January 2023 at the inauguration of the new school complex at the Yogoda Satsanga Educational Campus in Jagannathpur, Ranchi.
Swami Chidanandaji speaks on Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda’s vision for the education of children — one that encapsulated India’s ancient wisdom in practical “how-to-live skills” that lead to balanced development of body, mind, and soul. Most importantly, Paramahansaji wanted to equip young people with the ability to tap the superior resources of the soul, for by doing so they would be able to meet successfully any challenge that life presented.
About the Yogoda Satsanga Educational Campus:
The new school complex at Yogoda Satsanga Educational Campus consists of several new facilities that were constructed on the grounds of the Yogoda Satsanga Vidyalaya in the Jagannathpur section of Ranchi, Jharkhand. They represent a major upgrade to the forty year-old building the school formerly used. The new facilities include two dozen spacious and well-ventilated classrooms, fully equipped science and computer laboratories, an auditorium (which also is used by students of the nearby Yogoda Satsanga Mahavidyalaya), buildings for National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Social Service (NSS) activities, a library with up-to-date features, kitchen, and dining hall.
The new buildings are designed based on the ancient Gurukul principles espoused by Paramahansa Yogananda, such as studying while being in close proximity to nature.
The Yogoda Satsanga Vidyalaya and Mahavidyalaya serve local students from low-income families.
