Sri Kamal Nain Bakshi, a beloved Kriyaban disciple of Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda for over 35 years, and a Yogoda Satsanga Society of India Board member since 2012, peacefully left his earthly body on the morning of June 6.
With the passing of Sri Bakshi, YSS has lost a noble soul whose life exemplified unwavering dedication to both his country and his spiritual path.
Sri K. N. Bakshi served as India’s Ambassador to several countries, including Sweden, Norway, Iraq, Austria, and Italy. His career as a diplomat was marked by exceptional service to our nation. He upheld the ideals and aspirations of Bharat with dignity and honour, giving voice to the country’s values on the world stage. After retirement, Sri Bakshi decided to dedicate his life to another cause — as a quiet but powerful emissary of his Guru Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s spiritual mission. Just as he once carried our country’s voice across borders, he came to embody and radiate the spiritual ideals of our Guru, not through words alone, but through the noble example of his life.
Leading a life of service and devotion, Sri K. N. Bakshi served YSS in many roles — including as a YSS Board member for thirteen years — contributing to critical decision-making for the multifarious projects of Gurudeva’s work across India. He was instrumental in the development of the YSS ashram in Noida, being personally invested in the progress of the construction work. Later, as a member of the Noida Ashram Administration Committee and of the YSS Board, he contributed to the effective administration of the ashram. Sri Bakshi instituted a scholarship for girl students and initiated coaching classes for poor students from classes IX to XII at the Noida ashram. Both of these initiatives continue to benefit many today, enabling several individuals to gain entry into professional courses. He was also instrumental in establishing a charitable dispensary at the Noida ashram, which now serves thousands of needy patients annually.
A Memorial Service will be conducted soon at YSS Noida Ashram to honour Sri K. N. Bakshi.
