Our hearts go out to all those whose lives have been lost or affected by the devastating flooding in Nepal. Many families and communities are facing unimaginable grief as they mourn loved ones who were swept away in this tragedy, while countless others continue to await news of those who remain missing. Ever since the news of this catastrophe became known, the prayers of Guruji’s Sannyasis and Sannyasinis of the YSS and SRF ashrams, including those of our President Sri Sri Swami Chidananda Giri, have flowed out with intensity to all who have been affected, and to the dear and dedicated devotees of Gurudeva in Nepal and throughout the region.
Many devotees are understandably questioning how such a tragedy could befall pilgrims journeying with faith toward a sacred destination. At moments of profound loss, the limited human intellect struggles to fully understand the workings of the divine laws of individual and mass karma governing creation and each soul’s journey back to God. But what we can know with faith is that every soul who passed away while their hearts were devotionally attuned through undertaking this sacred pilgrimage is now safe and secure, ascended to a realm of light, beauty, and freedom.
When we look upon the disasters and sorrows of mortal existence with loving trust in the Divine, and with realization that this earth is not our home, we become more aware that God’s infinite love and grace ever remain with each of us, even in life’s darkest hours, guiding each soul’s pilgrimage of incarnations to ultimate liberation and bliss.
Let our hearts join in compassion and prayer for the grieving loved ones and families of those who were taken away with tragic suddenness by this catastrophe, and do whatever we can to provide material relief to the devastated communities. Let us join together in visualizing Nepal, the Himalayan region, and all those affected by this disaster surrounded by God’s healing light. Swami Chidanandaji has reminded us: “As members of Gurudeva Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s spiritual family and of the YSS/SRF Worldwide Prayer Circle, we have the sacred privilege and responsibility of sending forth prayer vibrations that bring solace, strength, and spiritual upliftment to those in need. Through deep meditation, prayer, and the practice of Guruji’s healing technique, we can become channels for comfort, hope, and divine healing.”
Swami Chidanandaji sends this prayer and asks us all to join in: “May the grace and blessings of Gurudeva and our Great Gurus enfold all those affected in divine protection, comfort, and peace. May those who are still missing be safely rescued. And may those who have lost loved ones find the strength to endure their sorrow, while the injured receive healing and those still awaiting news are sustained by hope. Above all, may each of us remember that, even amid life’s uncertainties, God’s love for each of us remains the one unshakable reality.”
