About the Event

Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya is revered as Yogavatar, an “incarnation of yoga.” In Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda shares these words of Sri Ananda Mohan Lahiri, late grandson of the great master: “His uniqueness as a prophet lies in his practical stress on a definite method, Kriya, opening for the first time the doors of yoga freedom to all men. Apart from the miracles of his own life, surely the Yogavatar reached the zenith of all wonders in reducing the ancient complexities of yoga to an effective simplicity within the ordinary grasp.”

A special online meditation was led by a YSS sannyasi on Tuesday, September 26, in the honour of Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya on his Mahasamadhi Divas. Mahasamadhi is a great yogi’s final conscious exit from the body in a state of oneness with Spirit.

The meditation session began with an opening prayer, and included reading and a period of chanting and meditation. It concluded with Paramahansa Yogananda’s Healing Technique and a closing prayer.

In addition to this online programme, various in-person commemorative events were also conducted at our ashrams, kendras, and mandalis on this occasion.
