Meditate unceasingly, that you quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery.
— Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya
September 26 is the Mahasamadhi Divas of Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya, the paramguru of Paramahansa Yogananda. As Lahiri Mahasaya exemplified the highest ideals of Yoga, union of the little self with God, he is reverenced as a Yogavatar, or incarnation of Yoga. He left this world on September 26, 1895, during his mahasamadhi — the last meditation, or conscious communion with God, during which a perfected master merges himself in the cosmic Aum and casts off the physical body.
Lahiri Mahasaya played a pivotal role in introducing Kriya Yoga to the modern world.
To commemorate this special occasion, a special meditation was led by a YSS sannyasi. The session included chanting, meditation, and an inspirational talk in English.
