To disciples who are mentally attuned with him, the guru transmits the light of God that flows through him. If the devotee with deep mental concentration broadcasts to his guru, the guru receives and likewise silently sends forth the help needed.
— Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda
Dear Ones,
A blessed Guru Purnima to each of you. On this sacred day, as we offer our gratitude for all the God-illumined teachers who have kept the flame of divine realization burning brightly through the ages, let us unite in expressing our deep thankfulness to our own beloved gurudeva, Sri Sri Paramahansa Yoganandaji. We honour him for his unique contributions to the world as a Jagadguru, and more personally for his loving and continuous watchfulness over our own spiritual unfoldment — serving as the divine channel through which God is redeeming, guiding, and awakening us.
How great is our good fortune to have the inspiration and example of Guruji’s victorious life and his transformative teachings, through which he has bestowed upon us the keys to unlock our own inner illumination. As we open our hearts ever more fully to the ceaseless flow of his grace, and dedicate ourselves to the sacred Kriya Yoga sadhana, our attunement with him deepens and his presence becomes a living, tangible reality in our daily lives. Through our receptivity to that presence and through the sacred power flowing from every thought-jewel of his teachings, he remains ever-living and ever-near, even as when he walked the earth in physical form, awakening us from the dream of separation and helping us recognize the light of God shining within ourselves.
The greatest offering we can lay at Gurudeva’s feet is our humble receptivity, dedicated spiritual effort, and unwavering, soul-felt loyalty to him as the “speaking voice of silent God.” My prayers are with you all, that you may feel the holy stream of his constant blessings purifying your consciousness — filling your hearts with courage and eternal joy and with the great divine light that unites us all in God. Jai Guru!
With God and Gurudeva’s unceasing love and blessings,
Swami Chidananda Giri
